17JUL20 - Head's update 11

Dear Parents & Carers,

We have reached the end of what has been a bizarre year.  I want to take a minute to thank all the staff at The Bewbush Academy for keeping the school open, for working throughout this whole pandemic and being so dedicated to our pupils.  They’ve all done an incredible job and it’s because we think your children are amazing.  The teachers have even agreed to return to school a day early to be trained in the new risk assessment and be brought up to date with the latest guidance.

It’s now time to take a breath and have a break.  Along with some of the staff, we also have some children who haven’t had a break since lockdown started, please let them enjoy a lie-in tomorrow, I know that is exactly what I’ll be doing.

Things to remember:

  • Keep reading - complete a short book review for my Reading Challenge!

  • Collect items for your ‘This Is Me’ Book - children will receive the book in September to stick their items in, these can be photos and mementos of things that represent them or their families.

The libraries are open but if you are short of books here is the log-in to Myon:

Go to and enter your login information:

  •   a. School Name: The Bewbush Academy
      b. Username: the172student
      c. Password: read

  • Click on the Sign In button, select a book, and start reading!

As you will be aware Mr Leake and Mr Tyers have been really busy promoting the SpecSavers Virtual Games during lockdown.  Due to everyone's participation we have been awarded the School Games Award for our outstanding contribution - well done everyone!

Attached is the latest guidance from our trust on face coverings, please read and follow if you wish your child to wear face coverings on their return or you travel to school on public transport.

Thank you for being so supportive during this difficult time.

Have a fabulous summer break, may the sun shine!
