Computing
The Bewbush Academy's Computing Curriculum aims high.
At The Bewbush Academy, our aim is to engage and enrich children’s curiosity and experience in school through digital literacy, ICT and computer science. We will provide all children with the skills, knowledge, understanding and courage to become digitally literate, equipping them for life, within the 21st century classroom. In addition, children will have the knowledge, skills and compassion to engage in the ever growing online community.
In order to prepare pupils for their future learning in Computing, we aim to introduce them to key substantive concepts including:
- Programming
- Data and Information
- Creating Media
- Computing Systems and Networks
The Bewbush Academy's Computing Curriculum will broaden our children's horizons.
Our Computing curriculum will ensure children have the opportunity to explore, connect and embrace the technology available to them and equip them for the next stage in their education and into the workplace. Every child will understand the significance of computing in everyday life and reach their full potential in an ever changing digital world.
The Bewbush Academy's Computing Curriculum builds confidence.
We want pupils to develop the confidence to solve problems, think logically, research, programme, be creative and be safe. Although computing skills are taught discreetly, digital literacy is also applied within other subject areas, such as Maths, English, Science, Geography, History and Modern Foreign Languages.Throughout their time at The Bewbush Academy, children will build confidence through their learning of Computing by;
- Building an understanding of what algorithms are and how they are implemented as programs on digital devices
- Creating and debugging simple programmes
- Learning to use technology purposefully to create, organise, store and manipulate digital content
- Recognising common uses of information technology beyond school
- Learning how to use technology safely and respectfully
