Y6 World War 2 Day

23rd November 2020

The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about WW2 and we hope to continue to inspire them by hosting a range of topic related activities, both indoors and out.

Please ensure your child has a coat at school on this day.

We are inviting the children to dress up in WW2 are, be it an evacuee, a child from the countryside, a British soldier or perhaps an air-raid warden!

If your child does not wish to dress up, they must come into school in their normal school uniform on this day.

The Home Front Bus will also be visiting. This is an amazing enrichment and learning tool for schools. It is an unique living history experience contained within a classic double deck bus.  Detailed reconstructions of a 1940’s Living Room, Shop, Bombed Out Street and Air Raid Shelter, containing period features and artefacts replicating the sights, sounds and smells of the Home Front providing an exciting and inspiring educational experience for schools and events.

This experience will really consolidate our "wow" day about World War 2.

Please do talk to your child after school on Monday to find out what amazing facts they have learned about WW2 and about the marvellous Home Front Bus.
